The DSC Secret: MDM vs. M Traction Control Settings

The single most important factor in your lap time is the Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) toggle. In the iRacing setup menu, you have two primary modes for handling electronic intervention: MDM (M Dynamic Mode) and M Traction Control.
• MDM Mode: This is a preset mode designed for track use that allows for some slip but ultimately acts as a safety net. For many, this mode is too restrictive, cutting power early to prevent rotation.
• M Traction Control (Levels 1-10): This is where the speed is hidden. By switching to M Traction Control, you gain granular control over the intervention. Setting this to a lower value (typically 1 or 2) allows the car to rotate more freely and, crucially, prevents the ECU from killing your momentum on exit.
